On 11 August 2023, India's Central Government announced the country's first comprehensive data protection and privacy legislation, known as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 ("DPDP Act").

In a significant move, The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023 has been approved by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, receiving final assent from the President on 11th August 2023.
In India there is no such specific laws for protection of Data , the privacy and protection of Data are governed by the IT Act "Information Technology Rules, 2011".
